Description:
Cagrilintide is under development for the treatment of obesity and type 2 diabetes. The drug candidate is administered as a once-daily and once-weekly subcutaneous formulation. It is a long-acting amylin analogue. Amylin is co-located with insu in secretory granules and co-secreted with insu by pancreatic beta cells in response to food intake.
CagriSema is a combination medication of the GLP receptor agonist semag and cagrilintide. Cagrilinitide mimics the hormone amylin, which is produced by the pancreas. Together with insu, amylin makes people feel satiated or full after eating a meal.
CagriSema is a once-weekly injection of semaand cagrilintide. Phase 2 clinical trial results for CagriSema showed significant improvements in A1C, weight loss, and time in range, marking it as a promising new type 2 diabetes treatment.
