Usage for Chitosan

1. For Industry grade Chitosan, Industrially, it can be made into a new type of chitin-type fabric finishing agent that does not contain formaldehyde, with good mechanical strength and chemical stability. In terms of environmental protection, chitosan can be used for the treatment of industrial wastewater and heavy metals extraction.

 

2. Food grade Chitosan can be used as adhesive, humectant, clarifier, filler,emulsifier, glazing agent and thickening stabilizer in food industry. It can also be used as a functional oligosaccharide to lower cholesterol and improve immunity.

Chitosan is a linear polysaccharide composed of randomly distributed β-(1-4)-linked D-glucosamine (deacetylated unit) and N-acetyl-D-glucosamine (acetylated unit). It is made by treating shrimp and other crustacean shells with the sodium.
Chitosan has a number of commercial uses. It can be used in agriculture as a seed treatment and biopesticide, helping plants to fight off fungal infections. In winemaking it can be used as a fining agent, also helping to prevent spoilage. In industry, it can be used in a self-healing polyurethane paint coating.
